About baseballaslife
My own journey as a baseball fan has not been one that is all that typical. I was born in Williamsport, Pa. My mom and Dad grew up there. I love almost all sports especially, soccer and baseball. I coach Women’s Soccer at the local High School here in town. I umpire here in town as well at the High School level and occasionally above or below that.
When I was a kid I collected masses of baseball cards and my mom had a real love of the game. I enjoyed playing it but never really got to play much because I wasn't allowed to play for personal family reasons. My high school didn't have a baseball team and I am pretty much a 150% guy so I devoted all of my attention to soccer. I still have fond memories of watching Monday Night Baseball. Cutting the grass and making sure I got inside in plenty of time to watch the whole game.
My mom loved the game and would talk about different games that she watched live because of relatives that she had that lived in NYC.
During the summer between my senior year of High School and freshman year of college I played my first organized baseball on an American Legion Team. I loved it. This was also the year that I made the transition to a full time Yankees fan. That's a story all to itself. I've coached a few teams with some success and a lot of fun. I especially enjoy being an umpire and take great pride in a job well done.
When I’m not doing something sports related I work as a Pastor at a small church here in the Miami Valley, I also wait tables at a local restaurant called Encore. I’m hoping to make the change to a bartender at Chili’s or some other such eatery soon. Either way, I am hoping that a normal “9-5”shakes out sometime soon.
I’ve been married for almost eight years, and have three wonderful daughters. They are all under four, so we keep hopping. Eventually, I suppose I’ll have to learn the nuances of girl’s softball.
There are so many great nuances to the game that I can't hope to get into them here. And certainly won't try. I kept a BLOG at livejournal for a few years making the switch to Typepad last march. I came here because I want to write about baseball and sports and a lot of my regular readers at Typepad could care less about sports. I want to write about the season from my point of view.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope that my entries make you want to comment and that we get some dialog going. Come back often.
P.S. I've thought about using the MLB template because I want my posts to be judged on their content not my love of the Yankees, but I just don't like the MLB templates.
